Need Parking cable with a 97' z28 rear
I recently bought a 1992 z28 5.7 tpi 5 speed. The guy originally swapped the rear to a 1997 z28 rear with 3.47 gears w/ an slp carrier (not totally sure what that means.) Well I have no parking/Emergency brake. The cable is missing or never installed. What cable would I need to order? 97 or 92? Will the 97 cable adapt to the 92 e-brake handle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to make a 92 rear disc brake cable work. The rear discs are almost identical with the 97 discs. Just the 97 were moved about 2" further out.

wouldn't the 92 cable be too short then if the 97 rear is 2" further out

Re: Need Parking cable with a 97' z28 rear
The 92 cable is longer than say the 85 cable. It will work because only the ends of the housing (and cable) actually attach to anything. Just need to carefully watch the routing of the cable past the driveshaft.
One other option might be to check the ends of the 93-97 cables and see if they can be made to work if they are longer. I would just use the 91-92 cable though and be done with it.
