brakes locked 84 Firebird

I went to a mechanic and he told me that the rotor on my 84 firebird had been installed backwards. It is a one piece hub and rotor assembly. Is it possible to put the rotor on the car backwards and then install the caliper ??? The car sat for a long time. I think the caliper froze up and locked up the wheel. What should I do in regards to this mechanic.

Plain jane rotor, no.

Your explaination may well be correct. I'd find another mechanic.

Re: brakes locked 84 Firebird

Definately need to find another mechanic. I can understand a possible mistake if he did not pull the wheel and if it was common for cars to have a rotor that was close to the same offset either way but I have never actually seen that so get another mechanic.
