Converting to 1le

Ive found a guy on C.L selling true 1le calipers. Im interested, but i know they wont just bolt on to a stock non-1le spindle. He said it cant be modified to fit, but id like to know more about it first. Can someone shed some light on this for me? I have an 88IROCZ with 4 wheel disk. Thanks

Calipers are trivially easy to find, you can get them at any parts store. I's the mounting bracketry that's the issue.

True 1LE calipers, the kind to be found at many auto parts stores? The following link should provide all the conversion info you'll need:

http://web.archive.org/web/200605221.../1LEbrake.html

Spohn sells a kit and/or parts.

Re: Converting to 1le

I didn't realize they are that easy to aquire. He said his are true GM. But I read the link, but I wouldn't feel comfortable trying to mod them myself. Installing them I would do tho. If I go to the junkyard and got some spare spindles, does anyone know where i could send them to have them modified? And how much would that run me?

for the difference in price and performance, which would be better, doing 1le conversion or ls1 brake swap?

I'm certainly no mechanic, but I did the modification myself, without issue. I used a second set from the bone yard.

Most members would probably go for the LS1's.

Re: Converting to 1le

Ok. Ill consider it, the parts from a junkyard would be cheap. But im guessing the ls1 brake swap is better, how difficult is this? How expensive is it usually?

(Yes, i did a search first but found nothing)

Thanks!
