Check the 10-bolt FAQ (there's a section that covers brake conversion, parking brake cables, master cylinders, and combination valves).

thanks for all the information! now are these quotes more suited for what im doing?:

Are Drum/Disc Axles Interchangeable?
Yes, but the drum axle flange will have to be turned down to fit the rotor.* The flange diameter on the drum shaft is 6.0"; the disc shaft is 5.850" and the ID of the brake rotor is 5.900". (Oddly, there is no distinction made between drum and disc when ordering after market axles.)

Can I Swap Discs to My Drum Rear End?
Yes. Though the housing ends can be modified (https://www.thirdgen.org/ls1reardisc),
the easiest method is to purchase a kit from Ed Miller: http://www.flynbye.com/catalog/i30.html

Re: Quick brake conversion question

Cut the flanges off (after measuring) using the caliper brackets as a template and drill 4 new holes. Did this on my '88. Had a built 10 bolt but it was drum, wanted the factory disc, didn't feel like getting '89+ PBR parts.

If it's out of center a little bit, that is not at all critical, as long as the pad rides within the friction surface of the rotor.
