Daughter heading to school in Aug, trying to fix brake issue, any help welcome
I bought this car approx a year ago and replaced almost everything but brake system and rear end.
When changing my daughter's brakes, I noticed that the wheel calipers weren't moving. I removed pass rear and only the tiniest amount of fluid came out. Working my way back to the proportioning valve, I disconnectef the line and pressed the pedal, no fluid.
I am at the front-rear line, so I decided to disconnect from the proportioning valve... Plenty of fluid comes out.
However when I go to re-attach the line, it is slowly leaking in the center of the connection where the line meets the fitting (not where the fitting screws onto the valve). Unless I am missing something, I didn't drop an O ring or anything.
I tried pushing the line in as far as it would go then tightening the fitting. The line inside the fitting can be pulled back 1/4 - 1/2" back so the flared end is against the fitting... No change.
Any ideas?

There aren't any o-rings on the brake line fittings. They seal via a SAE 45* flare or a metric bubble flare. Which is used depends upon the year of the car, early ones used the SAE 45* flares.
If you can move the line into and out of the fitting a little then the fitting is still loose. Hopefully it isn't cross threaded as that is easy to do, and will make it seem as though the fitting is tight.

There was a nail shoved in the opening of the front/rear line by the prev owner. However, looking in the proportioning valve, it looks too deep for the line fitting. With it COMPLETELY screwed in, I can push the line in further and pull back. It still leaks. Looks like I need new lines and probably a new proportioning valve. Where is the best place to get a line kit? Proportioning valve?
