Spindle prep
After my motor swap is done I will start on my LS brake swap. Has anyone prepped their spindles on the car? I have a cut off wheel for the ears and a healthy drill for the bolt holes.
The only reason I could for sure see needing to remove them would be for the drilling and I have a drill press.

I got my friends setup he removed when he did his V brake swap. I will strip and prep those spindles.
I have a drill press but if I don't feel sure I will get the guys in the machine shop at work to get it done.
Brackets are in just waiting for my hubs

Re: Spindle prep
What size thread is suggested? I've read some people go with 3/8" and some with 7/16". Figure you can't go wrong with bigger, but is it better to go 7/16-14 or 7/16-20? The factory 1LE stuff is M12x1.75 (course).
I dropped my spindles off the the machine shop to get modified and told them to tap 7/16-20, and after reading this, I'm considering calling them and changing if they havn't yet started. Since it's for the racecar, I can see needing to remove the bracket a handful of times.
"Coarse threads are commonly used in ... relatively low-strength materials such as cast iron ... coarse threads provide more resistance to stripping than fine or extra fine threads."

Sounds to me course thread in better in the spindles. Thoughts?

Go to the big brake upgrade site, everything you need to know is there. That site is what I used and it gave all sizes and specs.
I will suggest if you decide to do the threading yourself get a starting tap and a bottom tap. The start tap is tapered and what it dosent thread at the bottom is where the bottom tap comes in and you will need that bottom area tapped.
