New rear disc pads won't fit

Bought new disc brake pads for front and rear both have the same part number. Front went on fine, rear pads fit in the calipers but will not fit over the rotor. Any ideas ?

Did you change the rotor too? Did you compress the rear calipers? Maybe the rear hoses are clogged? What did the old rear pads look like (wear wise)

I think 87 still had the crappy first design calipers, in which case you'll need a tool to turn in the piston on them if you haven't done so.
