Rear Disc Conversion Kits?

Is there a kit to convert the stock rear drum brakes on a 91 RS to rear disc?

I was looking at the kit below but didn't know if it was built for this type of conversion or not...

I installed this kit; pretty straightforward, although it does NOT come with the correct ebrake cables (sourced some through Hawks). I have a 91 Z28, so this should work fine for your 91 RS. It does fit under the stock wheels.

In the interest of full disclosure, I've driven maybe 5 miles with these brakes.

I have a few pictures in my build thread if you are interested: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...z28-build.html

Re: Rear Disc Conversion Kits?

I would stick with the 89-97 style aluminum rear caliper unless it doesn't fit under the 15" wheels.
(I had them fit with my Weld wheels)

Re: Rear Disc Conversion Kits?

Somebody did a write up for the LS1 (4th gen) disc swap using used parts.

https://www.thirdgen.org/ls1reardisc/

I was looking into this as something else to do to my car over the winter. I priced out the parts (new) just to try and get a comparison on used. This is what I came up with.

ACDelco 10444626 GM Original Equipment Rear Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Mounting Plate with Parking Brake Shoe
Amazon Prime- $82.34
ACDelco 10444624 GM Original Equipment Rear Driver Side Disc Brake Caliper Mount Plate Assembly
Amazon Prime - $107.40
Power Stop KC156826 Z26 Extreme Street Warrior Pads/Rotors/Calipers
Rock Auto - $271.99
WAGNER BC140184 or alt p/n F140184 Emergency Brake Cable
Rock Auto - $14.57 x 2
LS1 Rear axle and braided flex line kit
Flynbye.com - $130.00

Total $620.00
