wheel cylinder play?
Hello!
I have been stalking the forum for years but this is my first registered post.
I have a stock 92 RS 305 that hasn't been driven for a couple months. I took it for a spin and noticed that the brakes were pretty much gone until you hit the lower 1/3 of the pedal. Getting underneath the car I can see that the rear center flex hose that T's out along the axle is leaking pretty bad, (brake fluid reservoir is mostly empty oopsss). I have not messed with brake lines before, so I wanted to check the bleeder valves to make sure that I could actually open them and bleed the lines after I change anything. The passenger side bleeder valve has a lot of play, when I touch the brake line it moves what feels and looks like the whole wheel cylinder bleeder assembly in the drum. The driver side is solid. That can't be good? I can't really remember the last time that anything about this car felt normal as I have been driving the hell out of it for ten years (until recently) so I can't even recall how it should feel vs how it does feel, except that I definitely haven't had read brakes since it sat..
Do you think that means I need to replace the wheel cylinder? Has anyone encountered this sort of play?
Thanks for any thoughts!

Re: wheel cylinder play?
Sounds like the clip that holds the cylinder in is missing on that side.

Re: wheel cylinder play?
If those cylinders are pretty old and the car is not driven daily I'd replace both as a maintenance item. They sure do crust up and the pistons will seize and reduce braking that you might not notice. And since you're replacing the hose anyway now would be a good time to do this. New wheel cylinders are cheap too.
