CTS-V1 or VI gen Camaro SS front brake kit
Hi
I am in progress of upgrade front brakes and need some advise.
Can´t figure out which way to go CTS-v1 full kit from bigbrakeupgrade.com or VI gen Camaro SS kit. CTS kit is 100€ cheaper bur still has bigger rotors than Camaro kitt, 14 vs 13,6inch.
Does anyone know what are the diferences between these two ones and which one is way to go?

I suspect you'll be satisfied with either, so, ultimately, it will come down to which you think you'll prefer. However, based upon the description, the VI SS sounds like it's probably a little better.
$100 is a big difference when one toy is $100, and the other is $200. But when one is $1,300 and the other is $1,400, then $100 isn't so much.
Regarding looks, does the appearance of one excite you more than the other?
And for size, most people say bigger is better. However, I hear some people prefer smaller... easier fit, I guess, how you use it, stuff like that.
Scott will work with you and get you hooked up That's what he does, and he's very good at it.

Re: CTS-V1 or VI gen Camaro SS front brake kit
The price difference is minimal and its not the issue. Iam looking for the kit that needs minimal modification and work well on specific car.
I have been in contact with Scott and this is the information i got:
So each has a modification beyond the spindle to consider, the V1 kit is a 14 inch rotor but the rotor (2010-15 Camaro ss front rotor) has a smaller pilot hole (67.5mm), this needs to be opened on a lathe to fit an earlier register (2.78 or 70.6mm) so with every rotor change that has to be done.
the 6TH gen uses a 13.6 but the same pad as the V1, it has a modification beyond the spindle as well, the back of the caliper has to be milled to fit the 3rd gen bracket and spindle, this is however a one time mod, because the C7 corvette used the same diameter rotor and kept the legacy register size you are able to use off the shelf rotors (2014-19 Z51 C7 Corvette)
Cars are ever evolving and the evolution comes from improvements, The later 6th gen caliper is stiffer and exhibits less flex and better pad wear while showing a 5% increase in stopping distance and a total of 18% weight saving over the 5th gen brakes (same as CTS V-1)
Both of these brakes are worlds apart from the stock brakes on the 3rd gen, more leverage smaller pistons for faster activation all make either of them a solid choice. One other one you may not have seen on the site (because we just offer the brackets normally) is the hybrid bracket, this one uses the 13.6 C7 rotor and the base JL9 C7 4 piston caliper, no rotor mods, no caliper mods. Because the JL9 runs on a 12.6 rotor usually the entrance and exit points of the rotor/caliper do get very tight but this is the only area where the two are close, all other aspects work perfectly.

this sounds like the answer to me. I have neither kit though. It would be a huge annoyance to have to get the rotors machined for the hub register. If the milling of the caliper is just for clearance, and not to modify a mounting point, then that's the answer. You can just grind on new calipers with an angle grinder in a pinch if needed. also, often a lot of aftermarket 18" wheels still won't clear 14" brakes. you may improve wheel selection with the smaller setup.
the hybrid setup sounds pretty good too
edit: hybrid setup sounds the way to go to me. custom service parts that may need to be replaced are a huge annoyance

Re: CTS-V1 or VI gen Camaro SS front brake kit
If you’re interested, I have a set of CTSV rotors that are already machined for the hub that I’m looking to sell.
