1982 Camaro rear brakes fail

Hi there!

I bought a 1982 Camaro with disc brakes all around. When my car went through a check at the local garage, they said that there vare no brake power in the rear. So my question is, where do i start?

Booster? Master cylinder? Brake lines? Caliper stuck?

Can someone pleas tell me how to attack this problem the right way? The car sat for like 4-5 years before i bought it..

Thanks, Daniel..

Ckeck to see if there is a fluid blockage to the rear brakes (try bleeding the rear brakes), if there is no blockage, then the calipers are probably seized, in which cast rebuilding the rear brakes is necessary...

Is the brake light on? If you have an opening somewhere in the rear brakes the combo valve will move to block all pressure to the rears to save total system pressure. Sometimes the light doesn't work either, just something to consider. Good luck.

The brake light is not on - it comes on if I press the brake pedal..

Are you referring to the dash light or the rear brake lights? If it's the dash light, there's a good chance your combo valve is in rear shutoff mode.

try bleeding the air out of the rear calipers-those Saginaw calipers with the e-brake actuator going into the piston chamber are very leak prone.
