Rear Brake Bracket Bolt 10112649
Rear Brake Bracket Bolt 10112649
The torque-to-yield rear brake bracket bolt GM part #10112649 is discontinued. Is there an alternative that can be used other than just reusing the old bolts and hoping they don't fail? I can't find any options searching the forums. This would be for a 1992 Camaro Z28.

Go anywhere that sells fasteners and get some nice grade 8 bolts

I've never had a problem reusing them.

Was torque to yield bolts even a thing in the early 90's?? I thought that came later on??

...mostly.TTY bolts were definitely a thing in the '90's....and long before that. However, they weren't much of a thing on domestic cars of the 90's and even less so, on brake caliper brackets. I'm 99% sure those bolts are not tq 2 yld. I agree with "thatsupnow", that you can simply buy a grade 8 bolt, or a 10.9 if it's metric and use it...and it will be way better than good enough for that application.

Re: Rear Brake Bracket Bolt 10112649
Before attaching the term TTY so readily to any "get new bolts!" application, keep in mind, a TTY bolt has:
A reduced diameter shank between the head and threads.
That must be equal or smaller than the thread minor diameter.
And then, they are designed to stretch beyond ever being the original length.
Sincerely, learn how to inspect your bolt fully, and re-use it with confidence. It's not TTY.
There are several factors the unwashed internet believes make a bolt TTY, which are not qualifiers. Maybe I'll list them later.

The service manual does say to use new bolts and allow the adhesive to dry. Checked the bolt head and they are marked as 10.9 bolts, and they do not have a reduced diameter shank. I'll loctite them and reuse them. Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like they want the thread locker on there, hence "new bolt", that come coated with thread locker already on there. Not TTY though.
