Found it but.......

I didn't know where to post this,if it's in the wrong location someone please direct me to the correct section.

After several weeks of seraching,I finally located the third gen I'm looking for. The car looks great from the pics I've rec'd and it's only got 55,000 miles. It's more than I wanna spend but I need to know what a fair price would be for me as well as the seller. He's wanting $7200,KBB has it valued at dealer price of $4605 in "excellent" condition. Shucks,I only paid $7800 for an indentical '91 back in 1995. Then we just "had" to trade it in on a 4dr. family job after only 9-10 mos.

Re: Found it but.......

Yep. It's an RS with the 305 TBI. There are no mods done to it which is fine with me. I'm looking for a stock, unmolested 91-92 RS and this is the best I could find so far that was even remotely affordable, given the distance I'm willing to go to pickup.

Re: Found it but.......

Anyone have any idea what the car is worth based on the pics and info I provided? I don't wanna insult the guy with a low ball offer but at the same time,I don't wanna over do it either.

Re: Found it but.......

This is the ad I posted in the Camaros Wanted section:

"I'm interested in locating a 91-92 RS located in middle GA or within 2-3 hrs. drive. Not interested in a project car or the like, needs to be roadworthy and able to be driven away. Interested in black, red or white exterior, with gray interior, with or without t-tops. Would consider V6 but would rather have V8 but must be auto. Would consider other colors but rather have those listed. Not sure what I can expect but looking to invest $2500 or less. Basically I just want a decent foundation to restore as I go. Take it easy on me guys if you feel I'm expecting too much,I'm new here...sorta. LOL!!

"

I'm a flexible on how much I can spend and that flexibility certainly depends on the condition of the car. I really don't know what a fair offer is on that car. Maybe $5000-$6000? Like I said,I don't wanna make a ridiculously low or high offer, but KBB only values it at $4600 in excellent condition on a car lot, which this car is. It's not an individuals car,so keep in mind sales tax would be due as well as selling price.

BTW........the ad says T-tops optional, the wife has informed me that the tops are required. LOL!!!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Since I failed to answer your question during my rambling.....LOL!
I would prefer to have something that I didn't have to do anything to or at least very little to. Otherwise, something that meets the description in my ad.

Thanks.

Re: Found it but.......

Do you have the cash? If you do, I would fan the dealer with $5,000, and he will probably do it.

Re: Found it but.......

Check it out carefully, inspect wiring look for cuts and splices etc. be sure it is as nice as it looks. Take it to a mech and have him put it up in the air and look for previous repair work, spot welds on seems that look dark or heavy. grinder makings, or a lot of tar undercoat etc. I would offer 4000.00 max, it is not looking like a car with a lot of extras 5.7 tpi etc. good luck!

Re: Found it but.......

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. The problem though is that this car is about 3 1/2-4 hrs. away from me. I have no idea who to take it to in that area that would be able to honestly and accurately evaluate it for me. I doubt they will haggle over the phone especially since I haven't even seen it. That leads to another problem, since I haven't seen it in person, much like you guys,I wouldn't know if it was worth the highest offer I have in mind. Which is $5000-5300. Don't wanna get a $5300 cashiers check and be able to bargain down to $5000.

I guess I really outta just pass on this one. Those are the main reasons I would really like to find one within a couple hours drive and owned by an individual. Might be able to get them to meet halfway for a viewing if I were to atleast offer them gas money for their troubles if it were owned by an individual rather than a car dealer.

Re: Found it but.......

Here's a link to the car just in case someone else might be interested in it. The car might be worth the asking price, but just not worth it to me.
