1984 Z28 Bracket Racer $6,000 Chicago SW burbs
Naperville, IL
PRICE REDUCTION!!! $6,000. Also willing to sell the engine and/or trans separate from the car.
Car w/o engine trans $4,000
Engine $2,000
Trans $2,000
My brother was recently commissioned in the USMC and has no room for his project car anymore. This started out being his fun car, but soon transformed itself into a serious bracket racers when he found out just how bad the floors, engine, and tranny were in it. Since then, it’s gone through the full treatment front to back. He put over $12k into this thing not including the purchase price of the car. Honestly, it’s about 90% done. It needs some basic wiring and plumbing, as well as installing the engine and transmission. Here is a list of some of the mods done to the car.
New Tin front to back
Tubs for 14” slicks
Full rear clip
Ladder bars
10 pt mild steel roll cage TIG welded
Fuel cell
9” Ford housing with coil/overs & 4.30:1 gears.
Rebuilt front suspension
Polyurethane Bushings, Engine Mounts, Tranny Mount
New front Struts
Engine has not been ran since assembly
383 CID SBC
Steel crank
6” rods
Forged flat top pistons
6 qt oil pan
Hi volume oil pump
New World Sportsman II Angle plug heads (64cc)
New springs, retainers, valves
Eldelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold
Flat Tappet Hydraulic cam
Roller rockers with guide plates
Screw in studs
Transmission
700R4 with reverse shift pattern manual valve body
New BW gears, sprags, and clutches.
10” Torque converter w/balloon plate
We have some spare parts we collected while putting our projects together. Included are some carbs, intake manifolds, gaskets, push rods, and a 305 core that’s holding the floor down. All of that is yours for free just for stopping by even if you don't want the car!!
We just want it out of the garage.
You can contact me via email for pictures, or you can try my dad (since the car is at his house) fizban689@sbcglobal.net Anyway, we appreciate all offers, thanks for looking!

How about $3000 for the roller? Any takers? This is a steal for a full 10 pt cage, back halved, with a 9".

What brand 9" and internals?
Who did the install on the cage and the backhalf?
I'm interested, but just started a new job and cant afford to let my savings dwindle as of right now, but ya never know if I can sell my roller?

Cage has not been certified yet. I don't remember the name of the guy who did it. He moved his shop from the industrial area West of 59 off of 103rd to somewhere on Naperville/Plainfield Rd out by Bolling Brook/Plainfield. I'll ask this weekend to see if dad remembers the guy's name. It took him about 9 months, but he did a hell of a job on it, IMO. He was pretty backed up with work.
The rear end is stock length Ford 9" with some pretty steep gears in it. I think 4.30s. I also think it's a stock Ford open carrier as well. Used to be in Dad's street/strip pinto. I think the gears and axles are strange.
If you want to come out and take a look at the car, that'd be fine with us. Just keep it in mind if you get some cash free'd up. We'll work with you on price.
