1987 IROC Project, 305 Auto & T-Tops

It's time for me to admit defeat. I will first put this up for sale as a whole car before parting it out.
I've been trying to bring this car back to life for over 10 years, but I do not have the skills, time, money, or professional support to get it done. It was hit on the passenger rear quarter panel on a road trip. A shop repaired it (somewhat), we finished the trip and drove home, and I started trying to make it whole again. I eventually enlisted the help of the only shop who would bother with me, and long story short, he never finished the job. After years of broken promises and thousands of dollars cash wasted, I pulled the plug and brought her home. I can't get anyone else to take on the project, and she's not getting any younger.

Body is mostly disassembled, in various stages of restoration from sanded and ready for primer, to fully primed by the shop. He used DuPont products, and he does do nice work. Car was originally red, but I was going to change to white. The interior is also apart, and some pieces should really be replaced like the headliner, window trim, little things like that. Most of the interior sits in my basement. Both front fenders will probably need to be replaced. "We" never got around to that.

THE MAJOR ISSUE: When I got the car back after the accident, there was a gap between the quarter panel and much of the rear of the passenger window, and a small gap in the corner of the T-Top on the passenger side. I don't know if the guy was a hack and didn't line up the panel right, or the subframe has been bent. We drove at least 5000 miles after the accident and didn't notice any strange steering behavior, so I was convinced the panel just needed to be cut and realigned, but I don't know for sure. I can barely spray primer.

The new issue: Apparently while it was sitting at the shop for years not being worked on, the fuel pump went. It has a new battery and turns over all day, but it won't start and I hear nothing from the pump when I turn the key. It can be started with fluid, but it'll just die.

So if you think you can fix this body, you'll have what is unfortunately my perfect dream IROC. This thing came fully loaded, and a high-geared rear makes it even better for road trips, which are my life:
1987 IROC-Z
-305 TPI, mostly stock except for new Accel injectors. New intake gaskets (fixed a leak), ran GREAT until the fuel pump apparently died
-700R4 works fine
-T-Tops themselves in great condition
-4th gen front seats, comes with rear seats which I never installed
-Power windows
-2.77 Borg Warner posi rear, swapped in by some previous owner, but they never corrected the speedo gears. I have one or both of the necessary gears (it's been so long I forget which ones are correct), but this rear ratio resulted in an easy 25 mpg by my adjusted calculations!
-A/C mostly removed, but I recall there is a wire that still needs to be shorted so the fan won't come on all the time.
-Highlights: LB9, G80, G92, B4Z, KC4, J65, 1SC

Comes with new parts as well:
-New front bumper cover from RockAuto, unpainted, as-shipped
-New front bumper support (the honeycomb-like part that goes behind the cover)
-New weatherstrip kit. Covers at least the rear hatch, possibly the whole car, I'll double check
-Rear diff cover with support braces
-Stainless T-bar

I'm serious about how great of a template this car is, so I'm gonna ask $1,000 to put into the piggy bank for my next one. Again, a lot of the prep work has already been done (and redone professionally) including the hood and driver's side. Most other panels are at least sanded except for the hatch. If you wanna try to talk me down, you better have a silver tongue! I think this car is too salvageable to let die, so I'm giving it a shot at a new home. If no one wants to take it on, I'm going to part it out myself and probably keep a lot of parts for my next one. I have a truck and can help with transportation of parts, given you aren't too far away. If I can make it to you and back within a day, I'll do it if it means this car will be given a second chance.

Sorry to hear of the hard times with the car. if you do decide to sell some parts separately, I'm also in Connecticut and am interested in the 4th gen seats, weather strip kit, t bar, and possibly some other parts.

Gotcha, I'll let you know if it comes to that.

Yeah, to be honest I'm still looking for more body shops to call. It definitely came with the LB9 305 TPI, which I really became fond of. If I do end up parting it out, I'm probably keeping the motor!
