1982 Z28 Indy 500 Pace Car with the J65 option.

Asking $16,500.00 OBO.

I’m the 3rd owner of this highly optioned Indy 500 Pace Car. The original owner purchased the car on 4/16/1982 and drove to the 1982 Indy 500 that May and was allowed to drive it on the track!

The 2nd owner purchased it in 2008, drove is slightly & completed a slight refresh on the front and rear bumpers. It was put in storage in early 2009 until I purchased it in May 2019. I’ve only driven it a couple of hundred miles shaking it out. Due to financial hardship I’m force to sell it.
Pros

• · Completely original. A solid 3 out of 5. Clean/nice interior.
• · Runs and drives great!
• · J65 option (rear disc brakes). As of 1990, only 20 J65 Pace Cars were accounted for.
• · Cross-Fire Injection.
• · Rear wiper.
• · Console clock.
• · Default AM/FM radio with clock.
• · T-Tops.
• · New gas tank, sending unit & pump.
• · New thermostat/gasket.
• · New distributor.
• · New spark plug wires.
• · New belts.
• · New battery.
• · New wiper blades - all 3.
• · Newer brakes and tires with new center caps in the box!

The bad

• · Needs a heater core. Heater core now by-passed. I don’t intend to change the heater core unless I keep it. This way I can say that to the best of my knowledge the dash/gauge cluster has never been removed under my watch.
• · Right side window molding.
• · Some body imperfections., please reference pictures.

The car is located in Northern New Jersey approximately 25 west from Times Square.

That is a gorgeous car. Great for someone who wants a collector piece not to modify. It seems we all want something to modify though

I agree. Besides needing the money I couldn't bring myself to alter the car in anyway because of it's rarity. I too wants something that I can modify without feeling bad.
