Too bad, for double that budget, I would sell one of my Formy 350's but I can't see it going for less than what I paid for the car without the mods. Good luck in your search though, there was a roller on craigslist for $1800, you might want to look into that.

I have an 89 formy, has the 9 bolt, 350 tpi, and some mods, but I know if I parted it out, I'd get more than $1500 for it. Hell, price out a set of Formula wheels, with the WS6 centercaps, a tpi unit with harness, the tpi itself, the 9 bolt, and the engine and transmission, and you've already passed the $1500 mark, by a long shot.
I once had a member tell me that my old car couldn't be worth that much, and he was offering $2500 for a 383 vortec TPI on a rebuilt trans to handle 600 hp, along with full rear suspension, subframes, and $4,000 in stereo, not to mention the new paint, wheels, tires, upgraded brakes, and all the little stuff like exhaust, AFPR, and other odds and ends. Upgraded headlights to HID's, Autopage RS-1000 alarm with proximity sensor, temp sensor, shock sensor, and remote start. Then the guy had the ***** to tell me that third gens are old and not worth anything!
I think people don't realize that the third gen is soon to be one of the next cars on the classic car, overpriced Barrett Jackson, collector cars list.
I'm sorry, but if you are looking to buy a non rust bucket V8 that actually drives decently, look to spend around $4000, end of story. GTA's and Formula's carry a premium, and mods tend to get expensive. Don't think someone is getting rid of a mint third gen for less than $3000. Anyone selling it for less doesn't know what these cars are worth and you might get lucky and snag one, but not from a member on this site that actually does their research. Try craigslist, or some junkyards have complete cars for sale, but besides that, it's going to be hard to find one.
