Looking for another 91-92 Camaro
Found one locally, guy only sells Camaro's and Firebirds, and is a Thirdgen part dealer. It's a 1991 Camaro Z28 hardtop. It's red, with a grey cloth interior. It is a 305tpi Automatic. Just shy of 170k miles. It's red. It definitley needs paint, and the interior is alright. It has older Thirdgen style seats, which I would replace for correct ones. The car starts and runs, but does not drive. It had an alarm on it, it went off one day, and wouldn't shut off. They cut the wires and now the car won't go into drive. They said it would need to be rewired. There's been interest, but no one has bought it and it's been for sale for a long time. He's asking $2,000. The car came from a city lot from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was seized, but has a city cleared title. I'm excited about it, but unsure if this is a good deal. My '92 RS is under the knife, I just want another Thirdgen to beat around in while I finish mine, and then restore the one I bought after that.
This is the car:

Should I buy this one?
What do you all have?
I'd like either a 305 5-speed RS or a Z28. Anyone have anything? Not looking to spend too much, just something that runs and drives good.

Re: Looking for another 91-92 Camaro
that car doesn't look to bad but seems to have a few problems that I don't know if I would want to attack for that price. I am decent with wiring but not sure I would be able to fix this, any time you go messing with wiring you have to expect the worst and I have never heard of an alarm that will allow a car to start but not go into drive. Unless I knew exactly what i was looking for that would cause this it would cause me concern right off the bat. For that price I think you may be able to find one that may not look as good but be mechanically sound and to me I would rather have a car that looked rough but ran well more than a nice looking car that does nothing but sits in the yard. I have purchased cars that needed little things but always knew what was causing the problems before I bought them and did the research to know how to fix it. I have also turned away from some cars that i really wanted because I wasn't willing to pay the price they wanted and then have to do the work needed to make it run like it was supposed to. So I am guessing what i am saying if you know what is causing the problems and think you can fix it without allot of problems and you think it is worth the price after adding in the cost and aggravation to fix it then go ahead, if not then I would keep looking because sooner or later the right car will come along that will make you happier
