i need some opinoins please
I've been looking for a 91 or 92 z28 for awhile and I found one only problem is it was in an accident on the rear, there's no rear window it shaddered, needs a new reinforment bar and rear bumper and had 2 small dents on the rear quarter panels, owner says its still a clean title? Its only got 63000 miles and runs great he's asking for 4000, the car is out of state so I can't inspect the car personally you guys think its a good idea to buy it?

Re: i need some opinoins please
That sounds like a lot of money to me for a wrecked car. It is possible that the owner had only liability insurance, which explains why the car hasn't been fixed and how it could have a clear title. I would look around some and check prices on what you can buy the parts to fix it and how much a body shop would charge you to repair it. Just for reference I bought a one owner l98 91 z28 with leather and new tires for $3500. It has 100k miles, but the body is in perfect condition and the interior is in better shape than the outside. I ain't saying it is easy to find that good a deal, but they are out there. The thing about a wrecked car is that there will almost certainly be unseen damage. With unibody car hit in the rear there could be a lot of unseen structural damage. You said there are some small dents in the quarter panel, which could indicate that the unibody is warped causing the dents in the quarter. I have been rebuilding wrecked vehicles for the last 14 years. I give you this advice, before you agree to pay that kind of money, you should go look at the car in person and take it to a body shop to get a professional to check it and tell you what it would take to fix it. If the owner is honest, he will be glad to take you and the car to do that.

x2. It still has a clean title because it was never reported as being wrecked. the dents on the quarters could mean the rear of the car has kinked in the frame area.
Pass on it. it will never be right. especially for 4k, you can get a non wrecked car in the same shape for about that much.

dont waste your money with anything you need a second opinion on. if your not 100% sure you want it by yourself then its not worth getting in the first place. being patient will make you much happier in the end. just my

if the car was not "totaled" the title would still be normal. But if the accident was never fixed, or reported to the insurance agency, the title would not show anything either.
most important. If you can't inspect the car before you buy it, DONT BUY IT! Its just a bad idea, the car to be a rotted out POS for all you know. I've looked at many cars that look great in pictures and from 5 feet, but get under them and they are totally gone. you can only tell so much from pictures, and other peoples idea of condition and "runs great" can vary drastically from yours.
any pics of the damage at least?
