Well guess I am the slow one here...15.9......but I am hoping that this nubmer will drop down to a respectable 14 something this year with all the stuff I have lined up/sitting in my garage waiting to be tossed on

F-BIRD,

very nice times. what are changing your combo to? i saw that you were ditching the vortec head setup.

do you ever go to Grand Bend or Sparta to race? cause i would love to meet up with you, cause i could use some help in tuning my combo, and i know you would be a great help. do you normally race at TMP? if so what days on the weekends do you go? just test and tune? thanks.

Not ditching the Vortecs. Just want to try my ported 305 heads on the motor. I have another set of Vortecs that I am porting with big valves etc for my new 406 SB.
So these vortecs are extra now. How many sets of heads does a guy need. He ehhe hehe.

They're in real good shape so I'm selling them off so someone else can enjoy them. They worked well.

I have been to Sparta and Grand Bend a few times. Hope to get
out to these tracks again this summer. Maybe enter the Fastest Canadian Street Car Race in Grand Bend. In the Thunder Street
or 12.0 heads up class.

Fastest Canadian Street Car Shootout

But mostly go to Cayuga Friday nights, Sat or Sunday, depending
on what me and my friends are up to that weekend.

Maybe I'll catch ya up there. Be glad to help ya dial your car in.

i would really appreciate your help dialing in my car. i just swapped the motor last fall and i never had a chance to tune it good and help from an expert like yourself would be great. i am putting some 4.11 gears in (hopefully in the next 2 weeks) and i have some hedman long tubes to go on, and some high flow internal parts for my q-jet. i know its got some better times in it.

that vortec head and intake combo, how did it fit under the hood? i can barely close my hood with a regular performer intake and my q-jet and stock air cleaner (which i made into a dual snorkel). now, i do use one of the open style q-jet gaskets that are are about 3/8" thick.

thanks again.

The Vortec/RPM intake pakage fits fine under a stock hood with a drop base air cleaner. I use a 60's/70's Camaro/corvette factory open element drop base air cleaner and 3" filter.
This aircleaner is lower than the aftermarket ones.
Room to spare.

My best last year was a 13.5@108-109mph. That was with a 2.3 or 2.4 second 60' time.

Yes.... all you really need is the base cause the lid is the same as any aftermarket chrome lid. I've had this one forever. Just keep moving it from car to car.
