Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
Hey Sonix big thanks for the loan of your tools and manual.
Your bearings to do the intial set up worked awsome as well. Big thumbs up. It only took me 3 trys to set up the back lash and the tooth pattern.
I got the gear set installed and set up all the pre load on the bearings set as well. I'll be setting up the disc brakes on the diff in a few weeks of so.
Also I sand blasted the diff and related parts she will be ready for paint soon.

Very cool. You going to paint it yourself?
What gear set did you end up using? and the differential?
I just moved into a new house over in the Penbrooke area. I haven't set up my garage yet (moved in on saturday), but let me know if you're in the neighborhood and want to drop off the parts/manual

Penbrooke is only 10 minutes from me. You have a nice sized garage?
I'll paint it myself. The car will be on stands over the winter and I hoping to get a lot done to it. Just pricing some stuff up and see what OT I get between now and xmas and if I get a lot then I'll build the whole thing top to bottom.........if not then the engine diff and a few suspension ugrades and paint the bottom
I bougth aq motive 3.42 gear set and gonna still use the cone posi that came with the diff

Hey everyone, i am currently in the midst of bending/installing new aluminum fuel lines and was wondering if anyone has a 37 degree (AN) flaring tool i could borrow for an hour? I am having a hard time justifying the purchase of a $150 tool to do 4 flares.
Much appreciated

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
While i appreciate the suggestion i did recently purchased the above tool. Unfortunately the inexpensive summit appliance is simply an adopted brake-line tool. The result is that the flaring bars serrations, designed to firmly hold steel lines, severly damages soft aluminum tubing. In addition the cone on the tool i recieved from summit has a raw machined finish rather than a polished finish. This creates a slightly rough surface on the inside of the completed flare. I'm generally dissatisfied with the quality of the summit tool and have been looking into ordering the "real" tool from Imperial... but it's pricey.

Hey sonix,
PM your number. I'll be back in calgary for a few days rest then back to ST johns
I'll get ur tools back to you asap.
This job turned out longer than I thought. Have problems with the crank line and have to flip over 15000 lbs of cylinder block and crank shaft to do a line bore on the crank line

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
If anyone has a use for these ...
Stock parts to upgrade your 3rd gen front brakes to an LS1 rotor and caliper, here are some base parts to help you convert.
- Stock 3rd gen rotors for making hubs to fit inside an LS1 rotor
- Stock 3rd gen spindles for cutting to fit LS1 calper mounts
I also have the template for the adapter bracket which can be laser cut here in Calgary for like $20, SS is about double the price to get made.
Also have stock A arms if someone wants to rebuild and replace theirs while still driving.
Price - FREE
Come and get'em before the steel yard does...

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
Hey guys still out in St john's, Booked for work in mexico for all of nov on a navy ship 3 engines this time then back to canada in dec and jan in victoria for another canadian coast guard ship.
I ordered up last week a EBLed ecm and a O2 Wide Band from DynamiEFI.
And I guess I'll be ordering the spohn suspension package I got picked out in December.
Right now I am trying to get a hold of some Dyno Don headers and Y pipe but its not looking to good.
You guys got any ideas? I wanna buy em once and thats it. Y has to be 3 inch as I am going with a single 3 inch exhaust magnaflow or Borla.
any input on headers and Y pipe would be great thanks and no cheap stuff.
Jay

Wow, your a busy boy Jay ... coming home with a pocket full of money for upgrades hey! Good for you man.
What Spohn parts are you all going with?
Dyno Don's headers are a really nice piece from what I have seen of them. I had the same problems when trying to purchase them. If you are doing some big USA orders you might want to consider shipping them all just south of the border and then picking them up yourself. Check this link out http://www.calgaryfirebirdclub.com/f...read.php?t=578
Let me know if this route interests you, maybe we can do a combo run sometime this winter. (I could use a new rear spoiler and might need a different hood)
If you don't go that route Hooker 2210s with a Mufflex Y pipe and exhaust makes a nice combo. http://www.mufflex-performance.com/fbody_1.html They have quite a few routes you can go with different sizes and outlet options. I know others who will be runnin'em

Spohn parts I will get in Dec I still have to tweak it a bit. Next year I'll get the rest of the stuff I want.
The per diem I get in mexico for 30 days will cover most of that.
I'm looking at some options in getting those headers. Fairbanks in Houston may help me out on thier. But if nothing comes up with in the next couple of weeks I'll have to rethink my exhaust.
My time this winter will be short to work on the car but I'll get at her and have her on the road by next summer.

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
WOW thats quite a list
I see Spohn finally makes a LCA with a rebuildable pivot .... nice. That is what I wanted as well but they weren't available at the time, so had to build my own. I really like there stuff, great quality. Man, after checking out your list, now there are a couple more things I am going to need ...
You can get those shocks and all the poly stuff at Mopac here in cowtown for just a little more retail, but works out better in the end after shipping and brokerage ... just an option.
A great place I have found for bolts ... nice bolts, plated, high grades any size you can think of is Quest. They can get you anything you want. Just in case you are looking for that hard to find one. I know I have been there a few times already.

Cool I'll keep that in mind on mopaac and quest,
still in the process about the headers from dyno don but am making headway.
Wifey is gone to Canadian tire to buy a mig welder on special. Hopefully I'll have some time to play with it in between the St Johns and Mexico trip

Wow, beautiful car there Cragg.
Not sure how much luck you'll have trying to sell a 25yr old non classic car, with non-low miles, for $8000, when it's blue book value is probably around $1500. This economy now is not really conducive to selling used cars, especially "toy" type of vehicles, where your target market is unfortunately unemployed now.
Crappy deal, bet best of luck! I hope to see that car cruising the streets again soon.

This can be appraised and insured for that amount as a collectible.
They don't have the following of a "me too" +$60K 69 Z28 or SS Camaro but that does not mean they are not desireable.

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
Alright, i'm going to need the weather to shape-up in a hurry. i'm just dying to get back to my (unheated, uninsulated) garage.
On another note, i have a fully balanced (by cnc-motorsports) rotating assembly comprised of a SCAT nodular crank, SCAT procomp 4340 forged rods (the beefiest i-beams i could find, they have 7/16 rod bolts) and kieth black forged pistons -18cc inverted dome (premium 2618 alloy). All of this is setup to go into a vortec generation 4-bolt main block (included but not yet machined), with vortec heads (also included, already machined for screw-in studs) this should yield a 9:1 compression ratio with a perfect 0.040" quench distance.
If anyone is interested i'll sell it all for $1500 CDN (or USD, they're the same right now :-p ). i'de rather not split it up.

Hey,
I used to lurk on here a while back...long story short, got out of third gens for a while, but now might be trading a current project for another camaro in Calgary. Could anyone shed some light on what something like this might be worth these days. I have yet to see it, but the guy seems like pretty good people, and goes on to say the car is pretty much a garage queen. The trades are between this camaro, and an 89 rcsb pickup...street truck.....leaning towards the iroc!
87 IROC 350 tpi, couple, auto, black, with grey cloth int, 76xxx km's, all original except for tinted windows.... Im just trying to make sure we both get a fair deal, I know this website is a weath of knowledge. The economy has really screwed with prices these days.
Thanks,
Aaron

Sounds like a nice car, and you're right; The economy has really screwed prices. Although, I've found it's a buyers market more-so now. If I had to guess, I think ~ $8-9k? Depending on paint, etc

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
If anybody is interest I have for sale a 350 built by dw engines here in calgary. Its running 10.5 to 1 comp ratio 810 series head which have some massaging done to them.
The motor has 8000 km since the rebuid, it came out of a TBI 95 1 ton chev. i also have the ecm that came with this motor. It is a non roller bock and it wil shoot up to 6000 rpm easily.
I bought it off a friend of mine and boroscoped the cylinders and dropped the pan off to check the inside. It is a good clean engine and I have the serial number and the build reciept.
I am asking 1000 dollars, I'd like to buid the 350 vortec i have sitting in my garage.
Theres a few other things this motor comes with if interested you can email me at jayculpan@hotmail.com

I bought it off a friend of mine and boroscoped the cylinders and dropped the pan off to check the inside. It is a good clean engine and I have the serial number and the build reciept.
I am asking 1000 dollars, I'd like to buid the 350 vortec i have sitting in my garage.

Hello there fellow Calgary 3rd gen-ers!
Just checking in and adding to the deserted thread =]
Also, if anyone has a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission that I can pair to a 327 I'd be quite interested...
And yes, I've already PM'd rs89todd :P

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
Anyone out there in or near Calgary willing to part with a dual snorkel air cleaner? They came stock on the H.O. 305. Needs to have a working thermovac system, but I don't care if its been sitting on a shelf for 10 years, I can clean it up. Would really appreciate it!
Toss me a PM, will pick up.

Re: Anyone from Calgary Alberta
i got my motor tranny, and exhaust if needed for sale but can be driven, its a 350 600 edel, hooker headers dual cherry bombs, rpm airgap intake, accell supercoil with modual mod also, rv cam. trans is a nwc t5 with centerforce clutch new almost broke in, hurst short throw shifter with t handle, and poly trans mount can sell everything right up to pedals and clutch assemb. motor might need a cam/lifter swap as it has a small tick that it just started doing, its comes and goes but its there most of the time. let me know if your interested, gonna be pulling by late nov/early december
email me at dowdall.t@hotmail.ca if interested as this account isnt attched to a working email anymore
350 for sale still running, but trans blew up.... number 5 exhaust lifter is dying so it ticks sometimes

No one is running other than the Street vehicles on
Friday night.
