no midrange sound,what to do?
I got new system and I have alot of highs, all the bass is in the rear and no midrange sound differance when adjusted on the head unit.Evrything is new except for the 100 watt kenwood 6x9s in the sail panels.Kewood cd 45x4,and 4x6 2 ways in the dash.In the rear(hatch well) is a (I know cheap)pyr.240 amp and 2 thump woofers in a box with tweeters. It does sound good for what I have and i dont think its a problem with the cheap amp and speaker box?Should I unhook the tweets in the box to cut the highs from back there?Like I said ,no midrange and alot of highs, alot. This is with the fronts faded out(not all the way) because with them in to much the highs are crazy. It seems I get no adjustment from the 6x9s,that I can tell anyway.Seems like the box/amp is overpowering the other speakers.Do I need 3 way 6x9s?And one thing that may factor in to advice is im 100% deaf in the left ear so Im pounded with sound from the rght.Hope all this makes enough sense. And a stupid ?Do I need 2 preouts on the head unit to use a 4 chennel amp?I assume so.
do you have crossovers on your fronts and 6x9's? if not even simple capacitors (we called them bass blockers) would be helpfull to you. block the lower bass tones those speakers are trying to play and they will perform better at the mid bass range.it is an inexpensive thing to try and if it dosn't produce what your looking for you can go to the next step. 100hz bass blockers are like 2-4$ you just put them in line of the speaker wire. good luck
