Which 4x6's, or 4" round?

My current setup is a pioneer 3400 cd player, pioneer 6x9's in the sail panel w/bass blockers. and 1-12" sub in the hatch.

I have a set of pioneer 4x6's in the front now, but even at lower volumes, I have trouble hearing them over the sub. Most of the sound I'm getting is coming from the 6x9's.

What 4x6's would play louder at lower volumes using the decks power? Eventually, I'd like to get infinity kappa plates, or try to fit 5 1/4's up there, or in kick panels or something but right now I'm looking for a quick fix for under $100.

Also, would I be better off sticking with 4x6's right now, or would 4" round speakers sound better?

Thanks, Derek

Turn down the gain on the sub if you cant hear them over the sub. That's what that is there for.

Did you put a bass blocker or a capacitor at the front also? I assume you don't have a amp for the fronts and rears? I will probally adjust the fader (with the subs off) to what suited for your listening and then connect the sub and balance or adjust the gains to conpensate. Make sure you bass and treble is flat and loudness off.

And for the bass blockers use a 50-100 micofarad for the fronts and a 200 microfard or even don't have to for the 6X9's. And also you mentioned a 4". Will it sound better? A 4X6 has a bigger cone area over the 4" round and it matters on which brands and the types of the speakers. You got to listen at a local stereo shop to decide. I would go with the 4X6's because there is the fit is better and many to choose from.

I've already turned the gain down, and today I realised the front speakers were blown. I wasn't too impressed with the pioneer 4x6's anyways.

Like I said, kickpanels may be in the future, but for now, I'd like to keep it under $100. Every speaker I listened to in the store, sounds totally different in the car.

Best 4x6 for under $100?
