Does this sound like a blown speaker???
Current setup: Pioneer deck, Kenwood amp, Kenwood sub, Pioneer 4x6's and 6x9's, amp is powering the sub and the two front 4x6 speakers. I was listening to some tunes tonight and all of a sudden the left front speaker started making a high pitched loud annoying whine/buzz. It is only coming from this speaker, and it still does it when I turn the volume all the way down, and even when I fade the sound to the back only. The only time it goes away is when I turn the deck off. Would this be a blown speaker? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advacnce.

This is what I would do. Switch the RCA's at the Amp. Put the L to R and R to L. If the problem still persists in the same speaker, then you just narrowed it down to either the wire going to that speaker, or the speaker itself. Check both.
Let us know how that goes first.

I know it's not the speaker or the wires going up to the speaker. It's the front left speaker doing it by the way. I put a different speaker in the front left spot, and it still did it. Then I tried putting the speaker that originally made the sound in one of the rear spots, and it sounded fine, so that eliminates the possibility of the speaker being blown. Then I undid the front left speaker wires from the amp, took a pair of speaker wires and hooked up a speaker right off of the amp, and it did make the noise. So this eliminated the possibility of the wiring from the amp to the speaker. I think I'm gonna pull out the deck and see if a wire is crossed or something next. Could it be the deck or the amp? Thanks again.
Is it a Kenwood? lol
When my Kenwood amp fried it did the same thing...it could very well be amp. Its not a crossed wire. To make sure its not the deck you can get a small self powered speaker from Radio Shack..i can't recall the part # to it, but its a small white palm sized speaker/amp. It has 2 or 3 1/8" jacks on it. You will need a RCa to 1/8" jack converter also.
Plug the little speaker into the rca leads from the head. If there is no noise (just the music being played), then its a bad amp.

Yes, it is a Kenwood. I think I'm gonna try wiring a speaker right off the deck first. Anyone know the warranty length for a Kenwood amp? Also, do they make adapters to go from RCA jacks to speaker wire? Thanks.

I still say do what I said. If you switch the RCA's and the noise suddenly comes out of the other side, then its your Deck or the RCA's themselves, not the AMP.
