Why not use the wiring that was there for the factory radio? Your new deck, just like the stock deck, has 2 power wires. One is battery power, and the other is ignition power. Unless your car only came with an AM radio, you should have both within the original radio harness.

If you are talking about a CD headunit then you will be best served to pick up a wiring harness that will plug directly into the factory harness providing all of your power connections without messing with the stock wiring. Available at any local audio shop or places like Best Buy or Circuit City.

If you are refering to an add on CD changer, then you can simply tap into the fuse box if you want. They make clips that allow you to piggy back off of a factory fuse for add on equipment. Tap into the fuse for the switched power for the radio and you should be fine.

Hope that helps a little.

if you insist on piggy backing, make sure you tap into the fuse on the actual fused side of it.. as in, dont tap onto the side where the wire runs to the battery..

..unless you're using your own fuse, i mean, in which case you'd probably want to use the non-fused side of it..

well i have tried hooking my stereo up to the stock wire's but i can't just get an adapter and plug it in cause the idiot i bought my car from cut the plug off the wire's so all i have is wire's there and no plug to plug into, and when i hooked it up to the stock wire's the cd player dident work, so i had to run a new power wire and ground wire........BTW when i was just messing with my stereo the power wire i had going to my battery caught on fire, it melted the power wire and the ground wire, so how do i go about running the power wire into the fuse box? or is there anywhere else i can run it that is better? maybe to the alternator??
HELP please!! Thanks -Don
