Hey Guys I got a question for ya all. I have a "box" in my car now with 2 12's in it. The box is just a board with the subs mounted in it. I know that if I make a sealed box the subs will work alllot better. The question is...... I have to 12" Kicker Comp subs, they are about 3 years old. How big should I make the box. Also should I split the box so each sub has it own box? Any info would be great. I am gonna start doing this tommorow.

yes you should give each sub its own airspace, check out the manufacturers web site for box specs, such as how much air space it needs

you should definetly give each their own airspace. they will sound more crisp and have better bass response.

I think those kicker comps require somewhere around 1.00-1.25 cu ft of airspace in a sealed enclosure.

Good Luck.

really? i was under the impression that, if built correctly, it wont make any difference between separate and combined airspaces.. of course, adding the divider does brace the box, which is always good.. so i would use a divider anyway.. but i dont think it will change the sound...??

Well just to let ya know guys, all is going good. My biggest problem was figuring out "space" I want to put in 2 12's, and not lose any of my truck space really. Before I just had a board going across the trunk. I wanted to keep that but get more BASS. Sooo after alot of math and drawings me and Jim86Bird came up with our plan of attack. I will have picks of it up lata tonight we just took them and jimmytime hasnt sent them over. I found out I need about 1.25 Cubic Feet per sub we are gettin that barely, so we are going to throw in some foam at the end of it to give it alittle more space. I will keep ya guys up to date, and like I said I will have some pics up shortly. Yeah Red Bird, custom box for the hatch.:lala:

for the most part, on a relatively basic system, splitting the chambers wont make a huge difference. on the more advanced stuff, though, an experienced ear can hear the difference. of course if you dont mind doing it, it wont hurt and might even help. just depends on how much work ur willing to do.
