Infiniti Reference...Junk??
Take a look at this 6 1/2" speaker from Infiniti. Only in my sister's car for 1 1/2 years and both are junk. No amp providing extra power to them, and enough from the head unit to drive them. Anyone hear about problems with these speakers?

I've had those exact speakers in my car for 3 years now and they are still in perfect condition! All the speakers in my car are the Infinity Reference series including two 10" subs that I just added and I love the way my system sounds!! Infinity kicks @$$!!!
maybe she listened 2 'em 2 loud and they distorted a lot... i blew 2 sets of speakers like that... Sony Xplod 3-Ways... Pioneer 3-Ways... didn't have bass blockers or an amp but i listened 2 'em really loud lol...

I know she was careful with them. I wrote to Infinity and here's there reply...
Crutchfield claims they don't know anything about it, but they're looking into it.

you can blow a speaker by underpowering it just as easy as overpowering it.
I had a nice pair of HK (same company that makes Infinity) and blew them -- didn't have a bassblocker/crossover. Never really played it any louder than necessary to hear going 60 down the road with the windows down.
Good luck getting free replacements.

That's a common problem with these speakers. For some reason only some speakers do that and others don't. I pump mine full of sound and there still going strong after three years. but my friend bought some and had them in the box inside her house for three months, and never used them, and the same thing happened. Contact Infinity. They should do something about it.
