Where to put my high frequency amp?
Hey guys,
Some dude at work offered me a fresh orion xtr 400 for 75 bucks. He wanted to get rid of it. He gave it to me before paying for it, so I will test it before I give him the money. But the thing is, where do I mount the amp that I used to have powering my subs? I want to move that to my 6x9s and use the high pass crossover to make it sound descent. The new amp is going to be in place of the old one, which is on top of my hatch well sub box between my two tens. Where can I put the old Orion 150.2 Cobalt amp so it doesn't look bad or doesn't put any holes in the car. I dont want to screw it down, can I put it behind a panel? I do want to remove all of this equipment if I was ever to sell the car, so I want some ideas of where to put it, thanks.

I would stick it in 1 of 3 places. First: Take out you spare tire and pay the $100 a year for AAA if you haven't already and mount it there. Second: Put it on the other side in the storage compartment, either strenghten the current cardboard box or take it out entirely and mount the amp to a board. Third: If it is a small amp mount it under the sub box in the bottom of the well if space/airflow permits. Thats all I can think of unless you want to make an amp rack that goes over the gas tank or build a multi level stand and put it over your current amp.

I like your second Idea alot. Although I am holding my current Emergency equipment in there, I can probably manage to fit it in the spare tire compartment. I can probably fit the amp in there since it is small and mount it to a board, and remove the cardboard alltogether, and reinstall it when I sell the car. Thank you, I was keeping resale value of the car in mind this way I dont hack it up, these F bodies dont last forever.
