If my head unit has 4 speaker outputs(FL,FR,BL,BR,) would it be possible to mount say oh.......8 speakers by wiring two speakers parallel per output?.Maybe more?

Sure, you can do that. But remember that when you wire speakers in parallel you decrease the impedence that the amp sees. This puts more of a load on the amp. It also increases the total harmonic distortion that the amp outputs. It should be fine considering a head unit really doesn't put out much power anyways.

You'd be better off running them in series. The amp will run much hotter if they're ran in parallel. The amps in head units suck major butt anyway. You don't need to make their job any harder.

If you want to do it the safe way, run all 8 of them in a series/parallel configuration off only 2 of the output channels. If they're all 4 ohm speakers, this will give you a 4 ohm load on each channel. Granted you won't have fader control, but with 8 speakers, do you really need it?

If you do..... then there's another way. Let's use only one channel for ease of explaining this to you. On the LF output of the H/U, run 2 of your 4 ohm spkrs in parallel, then run another speaker in series with those 2. This will give you a 6 ohm load. Or you can run 2 of them in series, then the other in parallel with them and you will get a 3 ohm load. That will give you 3 speakers on that channel, then run your 4th off the LR output and you're done. Then of course do that to the other side.

Just remember that when you run speakers in parallel/series at the same time and they're all the same ohm rating, the series configuration will send more power to the higher ohm load. The parallel configuration will send more power to the lower ohm load.

Example: If you have 2 speakers, and one's a 4ohm speaker, and the other is a 2ohm, and you run them in parellel, then the amp will send more power to the 2 ohm, so it will be louder. However ---> If you run them in series, the 4 ohm speaker will get more power, making it louder. Just one of those weird laws of electricity.

SOOOO... make sure your speaker placement matches which speakers are going to get more power. You may not want it to sound like all the music is coming from your butt.
