Will this hurt these Polk's?

I am kinda low on money right now with paintjob... amps... subs... rims... tires... and I can get a set of some Polk 5¼'s really cheap. I was just wondering if the Polk EX352 coaxials can handle a lil overpowering. I have a USAcoustics USX4065 amp. 65W x 4. The ratings for the Polk's are... Recommended Amp Wattage Range 2-40... Peak Power Handling (Watts) 135...
do you think I will blow the speakers with 65W? What if I turned the gain down on the rear channels or fade it 2 the front more. Thanks

just to let you know, even if you lower the gain on the amp, the amp can still produce its maximum power output.. gain is not a volume control, try to think of it as a sensitivity adjustment.. You would be better off turning in a HPF on the amp so that alot of bass isnt being sent to the speaker. For example, set a HPF to 100hz and without all that being sent to the speaker, it should be fine. Im running infintiy kappa 572.3cf's which are rated for 90rms, and im giving them 200rms (crossed over at 120hz 12db/ovt) and they haven't gone yet.

hope this helps

the amp has a highpass filter... it has it marked at... Flat... 20... 70.. 100... 140.. 160... and 200... so if i set it at about 100-140 i should be fine right?

for 4x6 i set it at around 150-200.. its just not realistic to expect anything that low from them..

I would set it for 100hz, see how it sounds.. play some bassy material and if it starts to distort, set it for 140.. Since you dont have subs you dont want go crosover REALLY high because itll start to sound very tinny with no low end.. 100 Should suit you fine (i use 120 in my case because my sub goes up to 120hz).
