8 of them???

Dude, I would go look for IDMAX or Brahma if your going to run that many. They will sound just as good (or better) and go just as loud....and most importantly be a lot cheaper! lol

BTW, a friend in CS has 2 10's. They are nice, but not worth the money nice IMO.

Car: too many ...
8 W7's in a 3rd gen would amaze me ... not because of the sound (although it would sound really good and loud) but because whoever got them to fit is a really good installer. W7's take twice to three time the ammount of airspace that normal subs take for the enclosures. So fitting 8 of them would definately require removing a rear seats and some kind of box would have to be built and it would prolly go from right behind the front seats to the rear of the car. Even then, I dont think thats enough airspace to run W7's. I know for a 12w7 you can only fit ONE sub (yeah one) into the hatch area and make the required airspace.

Good luck!!

A friend of mine has one 13 W7 in his 71 Beetle and hit 144 db's. They are pricey, but are definately worth it. They are the cleanest sounding subs i've ever heard.

Also, if your wanting Raw output (which I assume since you want 8 subs, spl is the only goal in a system like that) I would look at some Kicker L7's and/or Digital Design's 9500 series. Both VERY capable and proven in the lanes.

dude your gonna blow the hatch off your car with 8 of those. its totally unnecessary to run that many W7s. not to mention a waste of money. just buy one 13W7 and put a JL 1000/1 to it and itll be fine.

After much thought and research I have decided to run only 4 W7's. After seeing a blazer with 2 W3's - 2 W0's and a W1 - running a RF punch 500a2 and a RF punch 250a2 that thumped, 4 W7's sould do me just fine.
Still any other thoughts on amps - I heard RF is the way to go, but I like the JL 1000/1's.

Properly tuned/built box and plenty of power 160's would be EASY!!

Are you building this to compete? If your just wanting a loud system, 1 13W7 with about 1500rms going to it will make your ears bleed.....

Before I got married and had kids I had 8 subs in a car in a wall. Can't do that with a car seat. Four of those will sound very nice. For amps I'd probably do two dedicated sub amps. I have an orion 900.2 that does 900x1 at 4 ohms RMS that would power those pretty well. Maybe four of those JL amps you were talking about. One to each sub. That would be cool as hell. I can't wait to see how you stuff all that stuff into the car. Even with what I have I had to hollow out my rear seat back for my EQT's because I ran out of room.

well, as an owner of a 12W7, I would advise you ask yourself what exactly you want out of your system.

If pure SPL, I would recommend looking at the before mentioned DD subs or others, that can play just as loud, if not louder, and be cheaper.

The W7 is the must musically accurate, most detailed sub I have ever heard.

It is NOT the SPL monster people make it out to be.

in my opinion, anything more then 2 even, is way overkill for listening levels tolerable by human hearing.
