alright well I have cd player which is 60x4 and just curious whats a cheap pair of 6x9s i can get? I kno I should search but im wonderin whats good for my exact application. My friend has a pair of pioneers they sound pretty good. are the Pioneers 6x9 TS-A698 junk or are they good for my application? I'm also curious why sub box prices vary so much, can i just buy one from a random place or should i look into it?

Ok, well first off toss that wattage rating out the window. Thats the max wattage. When you want to match speakers with a power source (amp or deck) you need to know the RMS rating. Once you find the RMS rating (20x4 RMS is alright) then you want to look for speakers that will match. I would say that any fairly cheap (under $120) 6x9 will work fine. Everyone has their own brands they like and whatnot, just go someplace like Circuit City, Sears, or a real Audio Shop and requetst to demo the different 6x9's you are interested in.

The reason I'm not recommending a certian make or brand or anything is because it looks like you will be running this off the deck. When you run spekers off the deck they are usually underpowered and you'll never get the full potential out of the speaker. If you got an amp, then it would be a different story. But for running them off the deck any fairly cheap 3 way 6x9 should be great.

As far as buying sub boxes, you should also match them up with the subs you want to run. When you buy a sub they have a range of 'enclosure cubic airspace' that they work best in (its in cubic feet). Buying an enclosure with the correct amoount of airspace is very important to get the best sound out of your sub. So alot of people make different sized boxes with different sized airspace enclosures and the price can vary. Hope that helps.
