I just bought infinity 6x9 and 4x6 speakers for my 1991 rs camaro and how do i know what wire to hook up to the speaker? Which one is positive and which is negative? Help! What are the colors for positive and negative? Thanks

As far as pos and neg, get a small battery (AA, AAA, 9v, doesn't matter). hook up your wires to the speakers, then find the end that will attach to your headunit or amp. put wires on the pos and neg of the battery, and watch your speaker. If the speaker moves outward, then the wire touching the pos terminal on the battery is the positive wire. If it moves inward, it's vice versa: wire on the pos terminal is the negative. Just don't leave the battery there too long, you don't want to melt the driver.

 

I just put the head unit and consoul in, is there any other way to do that? Could i just check them with a wire tester thing?

 

Honestly, this is the best way to get it done right. It doesn't take very long once you get behind the headunit. If the speaker is labeled, then that will save you some trouble; all you have to do is match up the speaker and heaunit.
