Decible meter, whre to get one, who would have one

I was wondering if anybody knew where I could get a Decible meter, if they are expensive, or if most audio stores have one, or mabye a police station.

I have a little one from radio shack. it was $60, it only goes to 126db and isn't the most acurate thing. I just used it to find the resonance freq. on car stereos that I install. for a "good" one that goes really high on the db's is aroune $1500.

I can get them up to 170db for $350. It's the LED style that installs in your dash with a 3 foot mic cable. The real pro stuff is about $1300-$1500.

$350 ain't bad, but I can't get that or the new amp I want/need cuz I dropped my tranny last week, so all my money is goin to that. The local stereo store Bass-X is havinga Bass Shootout this weekend so I'll go there and see if they will do mine b4 the comp. Maybe I can talk my parents into loaning me $25 to enter it.....

yeah, if your wanting to know what you will really do, go to a shop. A good one is EXPENSIVE! Setting gains, adjusting EQ's, finding the transfer function and such can be done accuratly with the RS ANALOG meter (the digital is not the one to get).
