i think he meant that he wanted a changer that could play MP3's that way if he kept a decent head unit up front, theives would never suspect that he had MP3 capability

if you want a really good idea, do what i did. i bought a head unit with a front input jack that i have wired to my portable mp3 player. i just switch the head unit to aux & i can control the play directly from the portable, just like having a little wired remote
you must listen to alot of cd's or spend alot of time in your car to want a changer that can play Mp3's/WMA's since you can fit atleast 8 cd's on 1 70min 700MB Disc. I have the pioneer DEH-P8400 it reads Mp3's/WMA got it for $230. I work at bestbuy we damn near 50% off all car audio equip. I bought a 465.00 Clifford alarm for $110.00. but anyways.. I havent seen any actual changers that can play Mp3's but there are some nice standard decks.

Anyway I agree with the above post... You can fit atleast 170 fair sized 128 bit mp3s on a good cd-r. I suggest going with a head unit and if you really need to hold 6x170 songs in your car I know Clarion makes a good reliable hu and changer (never had any personal experience with their mp3 changer but Ive had clarion cd changers that worked great in the past). Not a fan of Alpine (not trying to start a flame war, just my experiences with em), very poor quality control and even worse when you call them to try and get it fixed under warantee. Anyway check www.clarion.com . If I remember correctly their 6 dix mp3 changer is 280 retail but you should be able to easily find it for less brand new. hope that helps!

Nice... I came across the Clarion in my searches, also, and I'm still trying to decide whether I should go with them or Alpine. Customer service is definitely important, so you may sway my decision with that post. In any case, I want an mp3 CD changer (which of course would need an mp3 headunit to be able to read the information) because all my mp3s are 192kbps, and I have one hell of a large collection of them. And I'm sure we've all come across those times where... "damn, I want to hear that song, but I left it at home!" With 6 discs of mp3s, it keeps me ever more prepared for just such an emergency.
