What kind of speakers do I need?

I've been through a couple pair of speakers in different cars. To keep it short.....If I have my system hooked up and I'm listening to, let's say rap music, at a loud volume everything sounds ok. But...if I put in some heavy rock at loud volume, after a while the speakers seem to muffle. As if it can't handle all the "distortion" in the guitars and everything at once. Where rap has a beat here and there. Do you understand what I mean? Is there something I can do so my speakers don't muffle when listening to rock music? I want my car sound system to sound like the one in my house! I can crank that thing till the neighbors cry. I'd appreciate any feedback.....Maximus:rockon:

is your whole stereo stock right now? or do you have aftermarket stuff? I would put on like a 150hz bass blocker to start w/, but let us know what you got now will help alot if you got time.

Yeah - do you have amps - or is it just HU power?
Sounds like u are using HU power and trying to push all sorts of sounds through speakers that really cant handle them.
Let us know though!!!

I had the same problem in my other car! Turning the bass down all the way does no good, you lose alot of the music! In the camaro I used to have the bose system, but when I bought the car it was no good So I re-wired the car and have 4X6's in the dash(infinty reference) and in place of the bose speakers in the hatch , I replaced them w/ 6 1/2 JBL's. I don't have the subs in yet cause I just got the car and I'm in need if a box. How do i want to approch this? Bass Blockers? I also have the kick panel speakers, the driver side speaker was still good so I left that and replaced the passenger side w/ a 4in JBL. They're spliced off of the 4X6"s. Is that not a good thing? I will eventually get a seperate amp for those speakers and ones that I want to put in the sails! I just want my rock music to come through, any help would be awesome......Maximus:rockon:

ya just make your own bass blocker w/ some resistors. if its distortion, are you overpower the speakers though too?
