Good sub company?
Good sub company?
I am going to start putting together a sound system for my Camaro, this awhile down the road, but am just getting prepared.
I am going to get 2 12'' subs, I need to know of a company that makes good subs.
I also am goign to get 2 4x6's and 2 6x9's. How big of an amp will I need to run all of this?
Also is anyone running a setup like this?
Anyone have any specs on a box that would be able fit the subs and fit in the rear hatch.
Thanks for the help.

Audiobahn has completely won me over. They have tons of power and look professional instead of gaudy. I don't know if they're any good or not, but the Power Acoustik Area-51 Series also looks awesome. They have circular amps to match that lite up with blue neon. If you have the money, my opinion is to go with Audiobahn. Sometimes you can get good deals on them on ebay. You can also find custom boxes if you don't want to make your own on ebay and in the classifieds on this site. Good luck!

There's a hundred good companies, and everybody has a different favorite. The best thing you can do is start listening to subs and deciding what you like. Going to the local car audio shops is free... they don't charge admission.
Go listen to as many subs as you can.
Go listen to as many subs as you can. In my opinion the Infinity Kappa Perfects kick ***. In crutchfield they are going for 250 a peice but they are awesome. For amplifiers u want to go with a brand name because they usually hold up to their reputation. I would most likely go Kenwood because their amps aren't flashy but they are good. But if u have the cash go alpine those amps kick. my friend is running a Kenwood amp 300 X 2 to two twelves and they sound good as hell. I would run infinity speakers too if u got the cash.

When I competed in car audio a few years ago Rockford Fosgate was my favorite....they really kicked ***.........these days I dont know, aiming for HP now instead.......
I'm throwing in a vote for Infinity, also. The two 10's I have are really clean and smooth. Realistically, you can make any sub sound good in the right box, so make sure you study what dimensions you need, as well. I've listened to Audiobahn in a *cough* Kia, and they sounded distorted to me. I think Audiobahn is meant to be loud, not clean. On that end of the spectrum, if you're going for loud, look up Kicker. As far as 4x6s and 6x9s, Infinity and Clarion boht sound great and can push lots of decibels.

I've had good experience with JL. W0's are great bang-for-buck.
It's hard to get good answers out of questions like this, because every setup is different. Someone might say "I heard [such and such] 12's and it really sucked hardcore!!!", and then the next person will say "I heard [such and such] 12's and it was the tightest, cleanest sounding bass I have ever heard!" But, the first person might have heard a setup where the owner used a crappy, underpowered amp with no crossovers, nothing tuned, in too small of a box... whereas the second person might have heard a setup where an ample...amp..was used, Xovered at an appropriate frequency, adjusted with an EQ, in a factory spec box. So, basically, just go around and listen to subs in audio shops and hear them for yourself.

can anyone guess what my first choice is?
I'm gonna have to say alpine type-r for one of the best low budget SQ sub. a couple more sub-$200 subs would be from Adire Audio, Blueprint, and Element (or Elemental? cant remember). check out forums like www.carsound.com or www.sounddomain.com for more ideas. you should be able to find some sort of consensus. i love my type-r and would only switch it out for something more than twice its cost (Adire Brahma)

I have Polk audio EX346 4x6's in the front, they put out awesome highs and good mids... plus with the 50w going to them they have been fine, never maxed out on me. In back I have Polk DB690 6x9's, which also are very clear, and produce nice mids. For subs I have 2 Audiobahn AW1206T 12"s that handle a good 1100 watts peak, and I have 2 Kenwood Excelon KAC-X520 amps to power them. (Each amp is 1000w max, I have them each bridged for 1 sub)
I'm running 0/1 cable from the battery back with a 50 amp fuse to a distribution block that breaks it down to 4 8 gauge, 2 for each amp. I don't have a cap yet... but it seems ok. My battery is a Wal*Mart special... a 1000 amp yellow one... (I can't remember the brand off the top of my head lol)
For my head unit, I have a Kenwood KDC-MP922, that is a AM/FM/CD/MP3 player and puts put 50w/4 max. This seems to power the speakers fine, but I want to get another amp to power all 4 interiors! That would be the Kicker KX800.4, 100 watts to each.
Well, that's enough blabbing, but for advice, I like Kenwood, Audiobahn, and Polk... obviously

I'm just running two 10" Kenwood Tornado subs right now. I've got a Kenwood 600 watt amp pushin' em too. It sounds pretty decent, got alot of punch. I'm personally trying to achieve all Kenwood products in my 91 RS, but if I had the $, I'd go with Rockford Fosgate. I'd have to say they're the most well known for quality subs and amps. They're expensive, but you get what you pay for...
