8 gauge terminal cups
Ok, so my alpine Type-R has "8 gauge speaker terminals" or sumthin like that. I'm assuming that means I can run 8g from the sub to the terminal cup, and from the terminal cup to the amp. But where do I find an 8g terminal cup? What if I went strait from the amp to the sub? would it get a better signal because it doesnt have to run thru the terminal cup?

8 ga speaker wire is unnecessary. Just get some 12 ga or Stinger 10 ga speaker wire.

I had heard somewhere that the bigger the wire=less resistance=more power to the sub, that and since it accepts 8g, might as well use it
lol
lol I do not beleive that it will make the speaker sound any more or less cleaner. But yeah, its cool either way you do it as long as youj keep your box airtight, unless your running the wire through a port. - lmao -

8 gauge is totally unnessesary unless you are running a few thousand watts to any sub. i believe it is more of a show thing. just stick with 10-12 gauge and that will be more than adequate.

yeah, 8ga is overboard. when i did my last box for my type-r, i used so extra 8ga i had just cause i thought it would look cool. but 10 or 12 ga should be more than enough.

I to was thinking that 8g was more looks than power, but why would they put 8g speaker terminals on it? It would look bad to see 8g wire ran to a single sub, eh? If I have enough 8g left over around here I'll use it but if not I'll just go buy some 10g.
