factory cd player...

ok, the 92 rs i picked up a couple of months ago, has the factory cd player. the problem is that it wont play burned cd's very well. i don't want to have to spend the money on an aftermarket. can it be cleaned or serviced? id like to keep it in for that oem factor.
i know a place that will rebuild it, but i don't know if it would even work then.

also, the previous owner didn't have the code for the radio, do i have to go to the dealer if i should have to unhook my battery anytime soon?

thanks for the help guys

I'm not to sure about this, but I don't think servicing it will help. If you wanna play burned ones, gonna haveta buy a newer one. If your not gonna be going to any contests, just buy a Jensen cd player for about $90 and forget it.

Actually I just bought an ugly *** Jensen CD player for my wife's car for $159.00

It plays MP3s!!!!!! and quite well to. We can put 255 songs/files on one disc and the SQ is really good since it's a direct read file.

It's model # MP3310 at Walmart for ~$135

I got mine from www.Crutchfield.com because they give you the wire harness, install kit, directions, and free 6x9s with it.

The reason it's ugly is it's silver with red buttons. *puke* But my wife's car is red so it don't look TOO bad, I guess

You could try burning the cd's slower. One time with my old cd player it wouldnt play cd's that were burnt any faster then 4x, so thats just an idea.

..or just get a changer with an RF modulator. I have a 100 dollar 6 disc changer from walmart....plays CDs, burned or not, just fine. I have had it for around 3 years now....still working like day one.

Yeah, thats another good idea. Get a cd changer, my friend has a Pioneer from the early 90's and it plays everything great. Never had any problems with it. Just make sure it has an FM Modulator though.

thanks for the info, i'll probably just break down and get an mp3 player, and put the factory cd player in the z.
i hope the dealership can give me the code for it though, otherwise it'll just be a paper weight

btw, 1 more ??, how hard is it to replace the front dash speakers? are they 4" rounds or 4x6's ?
thanks again
