In that case, that amp is exactly what you need.

Hey dabe, do you have the RS signs for driver, passenger, and rear bumper? And what would you want for them? Oh, and a camaro nose emblem.

my cousin's used to have a 240 watt amp on a 500 watt 12" sub. it hit good considering that one of the channels was out, so it was only pushing 120 watts from the amp. now they have *i think* 4 amps and 3 12" subs

My buddy has two dual 4 ohm type r 10s. His alpine amp is only pushing 150rms to each speaker and they pound very hard. When he pushes the amp at 2 ohm he will have twice as much power and I cant wait for that.

uhh, Type Rs only come DVC, 4ohm or 2 ohm... you could get the 2ohms and wire them series. Cuz i dunno if your amp would handle 2ohm bridged. I dunno how they'll sound... i mean.. i only have 1200 watts going to my TypeR 10s

That is what I am saying. When he is able to push the amp @2ohm(by getting two dual 2ohm 10s instead of the 4 ohm) he will get twice the power.

Hey 89firechicken

You don't have any email up.. and I saw that you were buying something from a guy in florida. I also tried buying something from a guy in Florida and was wondering if it was the same one.
Drop me a line if you want. This happened to me over a year ago and nothing has come from it.

If he runs them in paralles wont he get "the magic" 1 ohm. that is what I read from 3 subwoofer pages.
http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/2dvc.html
"W4-D4 Subwoofer: 1 Ohm
This configuration is recommended only for high-current amplifiers rated by their manufacturers to handle 1 ohm mono loads. Please note that a 1 ohm mono load is not negotiable by all high-current amplifers so check your spec sheets carefully or call your amplifier's manufacturer if you have any doubts regarding your amp's capabilities. If they don't recommend it, don't do it."

Well we will have to see if you are right. This weekend we will run it in parallel and see if the amp craps out or not. We tried running it 1 ohm with two 15s and it shut down, so if you are right it should run @ 2ohm and will thump that much more. Guess we will see.

subwoofer voice coils can be complicated, but its pretty easy once you get the hang of it. ill write them out for you:

one subwoofer, 4-ohm DVC: 2 or 8 ohms
one subwoofer, 2-ohm DVC: 1 or 4 ohms

two subs, 4-ohm DVC: 1, 4 (series), 4 (parallel) or 16 ohms
two subs, 2-ohm DVC: 0.5, 2 (series), 2 (parallel) or 8 ohms

basically, if its DVC you can get either 1/2 or 2x the listed ohm rating. similarly, if you have two subs (of the same ohm rating at least) you can wire the two together with either 1/2 or 2x the listed ohm rating of the TOTAL sub.

does that make sense? if not i can clarify some more.

So then you are saying what I was saying before, if he hooks it up he can either run them @ 1ohm or 4ohm right. That is what I was telling 89firechicken but he said it would be either 4ohm or 2ohm.
I hate all this ohm crap. It was easier in High School when you just got the cheapest stuff and though it all together
