Circuitry causing CD to skip
I have a Kenwood KDC-715S cd receiver and absoulutely love it with the sound quality and the look and security of the DMASK+ flipover faceplate. However since the day I got it I have had a problem with it skipping when playing a CD. This happens more often on burnt cds but I think I only notice that because the majority of the cds that i keep in my truck are burnt. It does also skip with regular cds. Now here's the funny part--the skips are not caused by bumps and are not at all consistent in time of the songs. The cds usually play just fine the first time through but if i let them roll over and play a secnd time through, the first few songs will skip several times and then things will go back to normal. The only consistency about it is that this happens on almost every cd played and does not seem to be caused by the discs. I have tried cleaning the sensor, using original and burnt cds, and cleaning the cds again but nothing seems to solve the problem. To make things even more convincing to me that the problem is in the circuitry of the reciever, a buddy of mine just bought a truck that has the exelon version that i still wish I would have had the money for at the time, and he has the same problem. Could the circuitry really be the problem or is there some other reason that I might be having this problem?
That sounds like a manufacturing error, and you should give Kenwood a call. I doubt it's something you'd be able to fix yourself. They should have all your answers, and hopefully a free replacement.
ok , nothing is wrong with the cd player or ALL cds would skip, ...its the cds that are burned, ....cd burners dont write or use quality cds the way actual REAL cds are. its like when you copy a copied vcr tape, the wuality is dithered, ....try buying better cdr's before buying a new cd player

The original cds also skip and they are in perfect condition. Almost all of the cds so skip and I do believe that it is some kind of error within the cd player. The problem is that the skipping is so inconsistent that it cant be the cds. The same cd will almost never skip in the same spot but you can almost count on it skipping at some point. I will have to call Kenwood sometime but it is a couple years old so it is probably not under warranty anymore. I was just wondering if there was maybe something simple that i could check on my own if Kenwood would not do anything for me.
