Will this fix my problem?

First of all, I did a search, but my specific question was not answered.

Right now I have a 75 amp alt, New battery, 560 RMS watt amp. I need to do something about the big power drain when the bass hits. I am looking to replace my alternator with this 160 amp one.

Would this fix my problem? I would like to do everything possible without adding a cap.

Thanks,
-Kevin

It should work, but a cap or a second battery would probably work the best. Also make sure your using thick enough wire. If its too thin it could be causing the big drain.

I dont think you need a cap or a second battery. 560 rms isnt that much power. A new alt should to the trick. If you are still having problem then I would go with a cap. But I dont think you will after you get the new alt.

make sure you get the right alt too. remember, some camaros were serpentine while others were v-belt. that one looks to be a v-belt setup... i've got a 100 amp one kickin around too if anyone's interested (v-belt)

I really don't know the difference in the belts. Is the serp belt flat, where as the v-belt is in a v-shape? I just want to make sure of this.

Thanks for your help.

a serpentine belt setup is only a single belt, while v-belt has many (one accessory per belt). serpentine pulleys have many grooves, while vbelts only have one
