6x9 question

Okay I have a mild sound set up in my 91, and i can't get a good sound from the 6x9's. i've used 3 different sets, and they all seemed to sound crappy. (boston's, Pioneers, and Eclipse) I put the pioneers in my girlfriends Olds, and they sound great on a factory deck. I know it's prolly because of the trunk acting as an enclosure. So my question is how can I get my pillar mounted speakers to sound like that? Poly fill, take out the baffles...what? Please help.

you could try spraying expanding foam in the cabaty <-- spelling just don't use the super expanding stuff or you'll have foam takeing over your car.Seal up everthing inside put some polyfill and hook up a small amp and that should be a good start

I also have the infinity 6x9's and the highs sound great, but acoustics of the car just arent gonna allow the speaker to sound that much better, i've tried a lot of stuff, i just stuffed an old t-shirt behind the speakers, and it helped some, but isnt the speakers, its the location

i'm thinking about taking ABS and cutting it to fit a mid bass 6.5, and a tweeter, and filling it with poly fill. Anyone tried this?

Dude, if you can find Memphis 6x9's, get them. I use them, and I wouldn't trade them for any other type. You might also want to try running a 60 watt rms amp to them.

6x9 Boxes

Buy 6X9 Boxes and place them in your rear tire well. They sound 10 times better than when they are in the normal location. I have been fooling around with the location for months, and it doesnt get any better unless you have a custom instalation. I have Sounstream tarantulas in my hatch and they sound pretty good.

Okay, i think you missed the point. If I wanted boxes in my trunk I'd add a sub. So I'm trying to figure the best possible sound from the least amount of weight. Thats why I am considering the Custom 1/4" abs plastic plates for a component set on that location. Sound deaden the location and add poly fill. Since a 6.5 can sound excelent in a door, hopfully it will sound good there to. I had a big system in my Iroc I sold, and it was too much. And i got sick of chasing rattles thru a 17 year old car.
