The replacement speakers i picked.

This is where the 6x9" speakers are located. Remove the screw from the coat hanger and pull the sail panel off.

The original Delco speaker.

Oh no, Torx. Time to find a T10 screwdriver.

Oops, the wires are pretty short.

I removed the terminals from the original speakers and soldered them to the new speakers.

A little sound dampening material to prevent the body from shaking at high volume.

The new speaker installed. Looks much better. Too bad it will be hidden behind the sail panel.

Closeup of the tweeter

I got a great improvement in sound quality. Can't wait to get my Infinity 4x6" plates for the dash.

my question exactly. I have the infinity kappa's (next step up) and I'm going to get the baffles from cruntchfield to stop some of the air flow in the speaker cavity. I'm hopeing to fond somebody with speakers like mine to see if the have the same problem has me (too much air flow in speaker cavity = bad sound).

I'm also running them of the rockford 9300x mp3 deck (wich has a nice "punch" sound feature) give it real clear sound w/ bass.

I have the same problem, I have the Kappa 2 ways, and i got no bass out of them, and theres way too much space behind there, its like a free-air spot, I put a bunch of foam stuff back there and it helped a little. But i just finished my sub project, i have one 10 inch alpine type R and a fosgate puttin 275 watts into it, and it pounds like no other, so i dont need bass from the speakers anymore

Do you have no bass and bad sound or just no bass? Did the foam solve the problem at all?
