Funny you should post this thread. I called Crutchfield a couple of days ago, and they said that they recommend for the 3rd gen cars (mine has the factory head unit) the Polk Audio GXR69's for it. I just got them today, and as I write this, they are still in the box. I plan to install them tomorrow. They have a poly cone, and butyl rubber surround, so if you have t-tops and they happen to get wet, then no biggie. The cost is $100, but Crutchfield has them now for $70. They are a 3 way speaker with a max of 70 watts, 93db sesitivity level and respond from 50 - 21k For the money, I'd say they are as good as any.

I'll be different here and say I love my Boston Acoustics! They sound great at low power (like on my Sony headunit) and are rated at 12-120 RMS. I can't wait to hear them when I get them amped!

i'll put my blurb in for Boston Acoustic. i modified my rears to be 6.5's and am powering them off of the hu, i also have a pair of Boston components amped up front. the sound reproduction is amazing. everything has a lot of life to it.

I have the Polk EXII 6x9s in the back right now. Watch out if you want to have a matched set of speakers, because the EXII 4x6s were to deep to mount in the front so you would have to go for another brand. This was in my '92 so maybe they fit better in the older models.

i have some polk 3.5"s and some Blaupunkt 6X9"s and a Phoenix Gold QX 10" sub in a bandpass box...haven't put them in the camaro yet, but when they were in my old car, they were so dang nice to hear, it was amazing...really. turned heads, and got nothing but compliments on it. every song, every time, sounded good. guaranteed. so really, i'd say check your specs, mount everything properly, and do a GOOD wiring job, then you'll have a good system no matter what.
