Cap question for Amp

I plan on getting a 1 farad Cap for my amp. I know i have to charge it up before i actually use it, my question is once installed and i have to disconnect the battery cause im working on the car, will i have to disconnect the cap first and charge it back up when im done or can i just leave it and just recconect the battery like normal??? Just want to know cause i dont want to see the 4th of July coming outta my hatch.

If your just workin on your car under the hood and not on the amps, just disconnect the battery and make sure the cap isn't connected to the rest of the car so you don't have any 'hot' wires.

You can just disconnect it though with no problems. If it will be disconnected for a long time you will prob want to recharge it like hooking it up for the first time, if its just a day or so then it should still have most all its charge and you can just hook it straight up w/o problems. Might as well just go through the process of recharging it to be safe (never hurts to be too safe). If you have the recharger that has the light bulb on it it will be really easy to tell if it still has its charge or not.

Your best bet is to just disconnect the battery cable, then pull the power wire from the amp. that way you don't have any powergoing to anything whatsoever. And as for recharging, don't worry about it unless it's undone for a long time, like months. They can hold a charge for a really long time.

Jim gave me an idea that i didnt even think about. I'll just disconnect the fuse that goes to that amp and then disconnect the batt. When im ready to hook it up, i'll just hook up batt. and put a test light at fuse b4 putting fuse back in to make sure its charged. Easy enough.

Sorry, fuse im talking about is the main wire at battery, not the amps actual fuse but the 40 Amp fuse that protects the wire going into my car.
