Acustic Insulation

I have the ability to buy three sheets of acustic insulation from the guy next door. he worked on the Fisher theatre over the summer and this stuff was left over. he said it runs for about 600 bucks a sheet and hell sell me the three sheets for 50 bucks. its pretty thick and is rubber on one side and quilted on the other. i can take the quilted stuff off but i ask is this a good deal?

If you get 3 sheets (4ft x 6ft) for a total of $50. that's $0.68 a sq foot. Sound like a deal to me.

It won't deaden a car like Dynamat will. Dynamat does what it does by adding mass to panels. The acoustic foam will help reduce road noise (higher freq noise I think).

its not foam.... it is sheets of a rubber/quilt combination that was put up in the fisher theatre in Mi. it is Acustic Insulation.

How are you going to stick it to the car. Dynomat and the others are selfsticking right? What about this stuff? If it is fairly heavy it might suck trying to get it to stick over all the humps and crap. Just a thought.

ask him how they mount it in the theaters. they prolly just use some kind of spray, then try and get him to throw in some of that too. either way, it sounds like a deal.

ahh gotcha. missed that part. lol

Well, You could prob just use some DAP contact cement to adhere it to the metal. Just go through a local home depot and find a glue that is made for rubber.
