Subs and amp
Subs and amp
Okay, I know this is an opinion question... and people will say its up to how it sounds to you... but I need some good subs and amps to decide between... here is what I am looking for:
- I here the 10" subs are better for quicker bass tones
- for the subs, preferably around $100 each
- Amp: someone good (I don't know anything about amps)
If it helps, I listen to rock mainly... any help is appreciated...
Thanks in advanced

Forget about what everybody says about this sub vs. that sub and 10" vs. 12". Go listen to a bunch of subs and decide for yourself. Every sub sounds different, and every sub has somebody that owns it and thinks it's the best thing there is. You'll get a million opinions here, but ultimately you need to buy what sounds best to you.
On that budget, without a doubt, I would say Shiva. As for an amp, that's tough. I would buy a nice 2 channel amp. At least when you upgrade later, you can use that amp to power a pair of components or coaxes.

he could use the amp to power the comps if he buys a amp that provides the entire freq range. for subs, i would probably use something like a JL 500/1 or JBL 300.1-1200.1....something that is stable down to 1-1.5 ohms and runs the subs mono.
Jim is right though, you really have to go see what sounds best to your ears. Some people don't like JL subs, i already tried to figure THIS one out...
. the Shiva's are probably the best bang for the buck though...
2 Shiva 10s and a JBL 600.1 will most likely suite you very well, but again...it's all up to your ears.

go and listen to different subs go to car shows see what people are running listen to them go to car stereo shows where dealers show off there stuff and listen to a bunch of different brands and see what you like and then try and buy them whole-sale or something so you get nice stuff for really cheap.
