what would you do???
what would you do???
k, ive got an alpine deck cda-7897... with all the features..i really needed another amp...cuz im using one 800 watt amp to power my 4 xcelons and a jl12"w3..now, i just bought a power acoustic amp..i bought it dirt cheap from my boss..its in good condition and its a 2 channel amp with a 600 watt peak...my ? is...how should i install this new setup? the alpine has preouts for the fronts, rears, and sub..what should i do? ..how should i set it up..this question was kinda vague..i hope someone will understand it...thanks
its a rockford fosgate 200*4(u can rewire it to make 100*4-better quality) and as of now..it powers my four speakers and my one sub...i didnt install it, so i dont know how they rigged it.800 watt 4 channel..and that is rms i believe
i was thinking about bridging the power acoustic to the sub..and have the four channel on the speakers...how would i go about doing this..im sure i need new preouts..any tips, tricks on how to make this easier...also, does anyone know where i can put this amp? i cannot put it anywhere where the t-top would sit..and i can't put it where my spare tire is..any creative suggestions would be greatly appreciated..thank you

why do you feel you need another amp. that rockford fosgate amp is way better quality than the power acoustic. You will get more power to all the speakers with the rockford. my guess on the wiring is that they wired the front right and rear right speakers in parallel to one channel, the front left and rear left to one channel, and bridged the rear channels together to the sub. Id this is how they wired it, and they probably did, each of your speakers is getting a 100 watts apiece and the subs is getting in the neigborhood of 400 watts. If you through the power acoustic into the mix, you probably won's seen any improvements or get more power, because then you will have to run the speakers with the rockford and the only way to wire it up will be to run each channel to one speaker, giving them the same 100 watts. Then you will be running thr power acoustic on the sub , which is no where near the quality of the rockford amp, so you might end up with a lower quality sound and probably less power.
well i got the other amp because i can't adjust certain frequencies and adjust my fade balance etc..without another amp..its hard to explain but i have no features with only one amp...now honestly....do you think that power acoustic bridged (600 watts) will be worse than before???...i don't care if its the same because i want those features..but i thought it would at least sound the same or "mabye" better...i know the speakers will sound the same...i am confused thou..my right speakers are louder than my lefts...do you know why??? thank you very much for your opinion...i realize that RF is way better than PA...i just needed another amp so i can play around with the sound quality a little...thanks..cya

an active crossover could help you will the crossover frequency's. they are usually higher quality than the crossovers in the amps themselves and usually have more flexiblity.
the ability to fade could be a problem. you cant fade because both left front and rear speakers are running on the same channels. they only way to fix would be to add the other amp in like you want.
what kind of speakers do you have? if you have the 4x6's in the front, you might be able to play them off of the head unit, since they are fairly small and efficient they dont need a lot of power to be loud.
im not saying that you cant use the PA amp, but you car will have a larger current draw, imo less sound quality for the sub, amd also imo, not look as cool with two different amps.
you could always hook the amp up and try it out, then if you get what you want out of it...great and if not, you could always go back or try some other options. go ahead and run it to see if you like it.
either way, good luck
