Extra Wires--how to?
Extra Wires--how to?
Alright trying to connect a Jenson radio (cd player, mp3 ready it says) which has many wires.
the older radio (not original) had like 6 wires (exclusing the ones used for power, ground)
The jenson has many many. If i remember, 2 lefts, 2 rights, possibly some fronts and backs. can't remember will have more detail soon
Now, how could we hook up this radio so that we don't lose sound, but hook it up to the factory (2 bose) speakers?
so we could have fronts/backs/lefts/rights out of two speakers?
or whatever
thanks
--EDIT: after a second look
old radio: Left common (-) left front(+) left rear (+)
right common (-) right front (+) right rear (+)
jensen: Left front (+) left front (-)
Left rear (+) left rear (-)
right front (+) right front (-)
right rear (+) right rear (-)
How could i go about doing this?

Alright, with a little help from someone else, I managed to get it working..
Backs are hooked up (front wires not used)
and everything works good.
Small thing though, When balance is set to Left, then the left speaker works, right doesn't. When it's set to right, then the right speaker works, and the left does too (near the same volume)
I know about the ohm difference, but i don't see how that would lead to this.

When the balance is set to center, do both sides play at equal volume? Are you not using the front speakers at all? Also, I'm guessing that sine you have common negatives for the left and right instead of seperate ones that at some point the car was re-wired. There may be an error there somewhere.
The car came stock with 2 bose speakers. The original headunit was not in the car.
The radio that was in there had the negatives (front and back) on the same wire called "Common", so I just left the Front Left + and Front Right + wires disconnected, while the left rear speaker and right rear speaker wires are connected.
With balance completely on LEFT, the left speaker plays, the right does not (how it should work)
Center, both speakers play equally
Right, the right speaker plays, but so does the left.

Did you leave the front R and L negative wires loose as well or did you connect them? Also, have you tried adjusting the fader? As you decrease it the speakers should become louder and increasing=quieter. I'm inclined to believe that it is a wiring issue, altho with Jensen stuff, I wouldn't rule out a faulty head unit. Is the factory wiring harness still there, or was it cut off and the previous radio connected directly to the factory wiring? Out of curiousity, why aren't you using the front speakers?
again, only 2 bose speakers. They run on 3 ohms, normal speakers are 4 ohms. And supposedly if you mix speakers (bose + non-bose) it won't turn out good.
That's why only 2 speakers.
We've tried wiring them different ways, but right now, all of the wires are hooked up.
Fading (front/back) and balance (left/right) is awkward, still.
right now, i'm just going to say that it's the way the Bose are setup, and it's sort of like, crossing some of the sounds over to other speakers to make it sound better, or so)
The harness i don't know if it's factory, probably is the factory harness, but wires are spliced up all over the place, so it makes it hard to work with.
The sound is good, still, so i'm just leaving it the way it is, for now.
